Winter Shadow Art Fair Date Set
Applications Open for Submission
Ypsilanti, Michigan, September 3, 2007 - Having three successful Shadow Art Fair events behind them, the Michigan Design Militia is in the midst of planning their fourth. The (Winter) Shadow Art Fair scheduled for Saturday, December 1st will round out what is now a bi-annual event: one Shadow Art Fair in mid-July and one (Winter) Shadow Art Fair in early December.
The original Shadow Art Fair took place in July 2006 when The Michigan Design Militia, a group of five, pulled together over thirty friends and colleagues, presenting them with the idea to have a group art exhibit/design fair. The original fair acted as a "test run" to see whether there was community interest in and whether the Michigan Design Militia was capable of pulling off such an event.
The event seems to be growing in popularity. "We regularly get requests from people in the community and the greater region to learn more about the Shadow Art Fair," praises Albaum. "We feel honored that so many people continue to ask how they can be involved either as a vendor, as an entertainer, or as a volunteer."
Due to the increasing interest in the Shadow Art Fair, the organizers decided to make the event juried (by application) and added a poster design contest as a way to increase public involvement in branding each event.
The application process is just beginning, so there is plenty time to get in on the excitement. Interested artists will be able to download the vendor application starting September 3rd. Those who would like to participate in the poster design contest can download the specifications here. Both the vendor application and the poster design contest close on October 1st.
Look for The Shadow Art Fair on Saturday December 1st from noon to midnight at the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti. One day, 40+ artists, 9,000 gallons of beer!
